After the loss of Tony we now have to go through the passing away (4th march 2010) of Lolly Vegas. He was a superb musician and singer. We have our thoughts going to his family and friends. Take a few minutes to listen to "Come and get your love" where he was the lead singer. That would be the best tribute we can all make. |

Redbone is a rock band created in 1969. The band was formed in Los Angeles, California by the brothers Pat and Lolly Vegas, two Native Americans, in 1968. Two other native americans joined them, Tony Bellamy on rythm guitar and Pete DePoe on drums. They produced a few hits, among which the single Maggy, The Witchqueen of New Orleans and Come and Get Your Love. But all their records deserve to be rediscovered, even their last studio album, "cycles" in 1977, touching slowly the disco style, contains some wonderful songs ("gamble", "dancing bones"…) . Pete DePoe is sharing some memories with us here. Redbone is still active and has produced two new CDs between 2000 and 2010, one with covers of their past standards and one with new compositions. Pat Vegas is working on the next opus… |
